Pain

“Drilling” using a laser is not completely pain free, but - particularly when working close to a dental nerve - it produces less pain than conventional (mechanical) drilling.

When used in dental hygiene, the tooth very quickly becomes insensitive to pain when using an appropriate laser.

When lasers are used to treat inflammation and abscesses in the gums, it is unnecessary to use antibiotics. Laser treatment is also significantly faster than antibiotics: in one minute (per tooth) it is possible to remove 99 percent of the bacteria.

After a surgical procedure, laser treatment speeds up wound healing.

After root canal treatment using conventional methods it is not unusual to have pain for two or three days. When lasers are used, postoperative pain almost never occurs.

Soft tissue surgery, for example to remove a tie restricting the movement of your lip or tongue, causes significantly less pain when using a laser, there is no need for “cutting” or suturing, there is no bleeding, no swelling and the treatment takes less time overall.
